Ralph Shortey – Fast Follow-up

Well, just minutes after posting about Sen. Ralph Shortey (R-OK), we have an update on what is going on for him. Things aren’t looking good, with Sen. Shortey now facing child prostitution charges for his involvement with a teenage boy in a hotel room.

Police in Moore have said they’re still investigating the circumstances surrounding a March 9 incident involving Shortey and a teenager. Police did not immediately return a phone call for further comment.

Police released a heavily redacted report that said a juvenile boy was found in a motel room with an adult male on March 9. The names of those in the room and the boy’s age are redacted in the report.

If we hear any more of this in the near future, additional posts will follow.

Ralph Shortey – Potentially Misbehaving

This falls in the category of possible misbehavior, as there aren’t enough details to know for sure what’s happening here, but Oklahoma Sen. Ralph Shortey makes the site for suspicious behavior in the past few days:

MOORE — Police here are investigating why state Sen. Ralph Shortey was in a hotel room last Thursday with a teenage boy.

. . .

“On March 9 … officers of the Moore Police Department were contacted in reference to a welfare check at a local hotel,” Lt. Kyle Dudley told The Oklahoman. “Responding officers found a juvenile male in a hotel room which was also occupied by an adult male. The circumstances surrounding this incident are currently under investigation and no additional information can be released at this time.”

Politicians Misbehaving will issue a follow-up on this story should it turn out to be much smoke and no fire, so stay tuned. All we can say so far is Sen. Shortey has had all lawmaker privileges suspended by the Oklahoma Senate through unanimous vote.
